InSync, Inc. has roots back to the early 1980's. Our company started as Bell Aerospace, a division of Textron, located in Buffalo, NY. It was at this location that we pioneered the development of internally cooled silicon heat exchangers for use as laser reflecting mirrors. They were used in many high power laser programs including the Free Electron Laser (FEL) for the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). Rockwell International was heavily into FEL resonator design and fabrication and for the purpose of complimenting their efforts, we became a division of Rockwell International. In 1990 the facility was moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was expanded to include full optical fabrication from raw material through coating. We have been manufacturing custom optics ever since then. In 1997, The Boeing Company acquired a large part of Rockwell International, which included our facility. We remained part of The Boeing Company until March of 2000, when we became InSync, Inc, which is who we are today.
